Facts About the Skin

The skin is the body’s largest organ. It serves as a protective shield against heat, light, injury, and infection. The skin also:

  • Regulates body temperature
  • Stores water and fat
  • Is a sensory organ
  • Prevents water loss
  • Prevents entry of bacteria
  • Acts as a barrier between the organism and its environment
  • Helps to make vitamin D when exposed to the sun

Unfortunately, the skin can also suffer from a wide variety of conditions and disorders. Our providers are skin specialists, we are able to help you with any dermatological problems that may arise.

All of the providers on our team have a wide range of board certifications and memberships, including the American the Board of Dermatology, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, College of Mohs Surgery, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Dermatology Nurses’ Association.
