Is Microneedling Available Near Me (Akron & Mayfield Heights, Ohio)?

Sun exposure, environmental factors and the simple process of aging can cause cosmetic concerns such as fine lines or wrinkles. A severe case of acne can leave deep, visible scars.

Allied Dermatology and Skin Surgery can help patients combat aging and/or improve the appearance of their skin through a simple procedure called microneedling. If you are looking for this treatment near you, our Northeast Ohio locations can accommodate new patients.

Microneedling can improve fine lines, create a smoother skin texture and tone or help diminish acne scars for fresher, more youthful appearing skin.

Any young adult dealing with acne scars or adults who are concerned with anti-aging could be a candidate for microneedling. Fine lines, wrinkles and the effect of sun exposure generally will start appearing when a person is in their thirties and will continue altering the skin’s appearance with each passing year.

Typical Process

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that provides a viable alternative to cosmetic fillers or other, more invasive procedures. As with any other type of cosmetic procedure, maintenance and follow-up visits will ensure optimal, desired results.

First, the skin is cleansed and treated with a topical numbing agent. Microneedling involves a specialized tool typically called a “pen.” The pen is outfitted with tiny, sterile needles that make miniscule perforations in the skin’s surface. This stimulates the skin’s natural healing process, triggering the production of both collagen and elastin.

Collagen and Elastin

Collagen and elastin lend the skin its firmness and its ability to stretch. While plentiful in younger skin, as we age our bodies start to produce less collagen and elastin each year. Oxidation due to pollution and sun exposure further break down our skin’s protective mechanisms, leading to wrinkles and lines.

Microneedling and its subsequent stimulation of collagen and elastin helps reverse the clock to refresh the appearance by making the skin more youthful.

Safe and Effective

The process of microneedling is considered very safe when performed by a licensed dermatologist and is well tolerated by most skin types.

In fact, Harvard Health Publishing, a publication of the Harvard Medical School, says the microneedling process can be considered “an effective procedure to improve the skin’s condition and appearance.”

Most patients will need a series of microneedling treatments, with anywhere from two to three to as many as six or more in order to achieve desired results.

Post treatment, patients can expect some rawness and redness. Allied Dermatology recommends frequent application of a mild, hydrating cleanser and lotion. After a few days, the patient can resume normal skin treatment.

Who Can Benefit from Microneedling?

The staff at Allied Dermatology recommend anyone dealing with the following conditions consult with the staff about the benefits of microneedling:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scarring
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Scars
  • Signs of premature aging

Rejuvenate your appearance and enjoy smooth, more youthful, vital skin. Request an appointment near you with one of our board-certified dermatologists to determine whether microneedling can help improve your skin’s appearance, tone and texture by banishing wrinkles and fine lines or ridding your skin of acne scars.
