Who gets acne?

Acne does not discriminate. Blemishes can occur at any age from newborn babies to senior years. It affects women and men of all ethnic backgrounds and skin types. A tendency to develop acne runs in families. It usually crops up during times of hormonal imbalance, including:

  • Puberty
  • Menstrual cycles
  • Pregnancy
  • Menopause
  • Stress
FOR EFFECTIVE ACNE TREATMENT THAT RESPECTS YOUR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS, UNIQUE NATURE

The cause of acne

Your skin is covered with pores – the openings of hair follicles. The body produces oil (sebum) to keep skin from drying out. Sebum can cause dead skin cells to stick together, blocking pores and resulting in blackheads and whiteheads. Meanwhile, a strain of microscopic bacteria called p. acnes lives on the skin. Clogged pores create a perfect environment for these organisms to flourish. This bacterial infection causes pores to become red and swollen. When inflammation goes deep into skin, pus-filled pimples, nodules, or cysts develop.

Personalized solutions

Our providers know that every patient and complexion is unique. We begin with a thorough examination of your skin, and take plenty of time to understand your concerns and lifestyle. Then we design a customized treatment plan to resolve existing acne, avoid scarring, and keep skin clear and radiant. Here are some of the treatments we utilize:

  • High quality products for daily skin care.
  • Topical medications.
  • Oral medications.
  • Chemical peels.
  • Laser and light therapies.
  • Drainage and extraction.
